Many insurance companies cover bariatric surgery. Some of the major insurers we work with include: Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Humana, United Health Care, Tricare, Medicare, and Cigna. It is important to get pre-approval for bariatric procedures according to the guidelines of your insurance plan.  Pre-authorization and determination that bariatric surgery is medically necessary can be time consuming and our staff will certainly assist. Insurance companies may require you to submit past medical records that illustrate other medical conditions associated with obesity like diabetes, high blood pressure, and sleep apnea. Additionally, you may need to submit records demonstrating a medical supervised weight loss program.  Also, you will likely need a complete physical, cardiac, and a psychiatric evaluation. This process may take a few months and we will certainly assist you. (remember, you will be responsible for services not covered by your policy)
